Candle Care and Safety
Positioning - Ensure your candle is away from drafts, on a stable heat resistant surface, away from flammable material and out of reach of children and pets.
Light your candle - There is no need to trim your wick before your first burn. A longer wick at this initial stage is useful to provide the heat necessary to create a full wax pool.
Let it burn - When first lighting your candle make sure you allow it to burn for 3 hours maximum. This’ll make sure your candle develops a wax pool that extends to the full circumference of your vessel, which will help avoid tunnelling.
Trim the wick - When you have finished burning your candle, ensure it's free of anything that isn’t supposed to be there and trim (don’t pinch) the wick to a minimum of ½” an inch (and only if needed. If there is no carbon or soot build up on the wick, leave it alone). DO NOT trim the wick any shorter than ½” an inch as this could effect the way your candle burns. Put the cap back on when the candle has cooled.
When to say goodbye - Discontinue the use of your candle when ½” of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. This will prevent possible heat damage to the counter/surface or container itself. The glass can get hot on the bottom as the flame nears the base of the jar and most of the wax has been consumed.
